Lucy June

About

Lucy June is a 27-year old pop artist from the southwest of Ireland. Raised in a family of Irish traditional musicians, Lucy spent her childhood singing Irish traditional sean-nós music as well as in every conceivable church choir, local ballad group and pub within a ten-mile radius. After spending some time attempting to do what was expected of her (not pursuing music), Lucy moved to Galway and for the first time found herself in a community of people her own age who were writing and performing their own music. It was here that she rediscovered her passion and accepted that music was no longer a hobby.

She spent the Covid years honing her writing skills and emerged in 2022 as Lucy June, playing a number of gigs in Galway and releasing her debut single ‘Chestnut Boy’ in March 2023. She is now looking forward to releasing her debut album, a 5-song EP titled ‘Self Harm Sex’, between March and June 2024. Lucy’s sound draws from a variety of inspirations, ranging from country to soul to gospel to indie pop, culminating in a sound that Lucy herself describes briefly as ‘pop with a 60’s twist.’

The first single off the album, 'Barbie Baby', is available on all streaming platforms now.
